Additional Pain Management Resources

  • Facility Assessment Checklists – MedQIC
This is a series of self-assessment checklists for nursing home staff to use to assess processes related to pain management in the facility, in order to identify areas that need improvement. You will find the checklists most useful if you need to look at your current practice more critically.
  • Literature for Pain Management – MedQIC
Literature for quality improvement and clinical care.
  • Pain Process of Care Measures – MedQIC
Included here are a set of process-of-care measures and supporting data collection tools that QIOs or nursing facilities can use to assess a facility's baseline and follow-up process-of-care indicator rates related to how effectively the facility is managing pain among its residents.
  • Clinical Tools for Pain Management – MedQIC
These are sample tools that your facility may use as is, adapt, or use as an example of how your facility's current forms/tools can be revised. It is recommended that a team of staff who will use the tool be involved in designing how and when the tool will be used.
